David Abbajay Forms Abbajay Automated Control Systems
New Company Will Focus on Providing Automated Lighting and Temperature Control Systems for Homes, Light Commercial Buildings and Planned Communities
BEND, Ore. – (Aug. 3, 2005) – David Abbajay, former owner of the Feed Barn stores in Bend and Redmond, has formed a new business called Abbajay Automated Control Systems. It is based in Bend, but will market its products and expertise throughout Central and southern Oregon.
Abbajay, who has a background as a programmer and project manager with several high-tech companies, is very excited about bringing new resources to the regions.
“Technology for automatically managing homes and buildings is developing very quickly,” said Abbajay. ”The homeowner now has the ability to pre-set every function in his home to turn on or off and adjust automatically according to their personal schedule and lifestyle. But there was no one resource in Central and southern Oregon offering comprehensive and integrated automated control solutions. That’s the market niche we intend to fill.”
Abbajay has formed his new company with the intention of being very customer-oriented and offering solutions tailored to each customer’s needs and budget. “Our goal is to understand how our customers want to live and work and then work with them to create the most comprehensive and cost-effective system possible,” he said.
Abbajay currently represents two manufacturers that provide integrated automated solutions for homes, light commercial buildings and planned communities. LiteTouch is a leading manufacturer of lighting control systems, and AprilAire provides comprehensive integrated temperature control systems. Abbajay is the exclusive representative for both lines of products in the Central and southern Oregon markets.
Abbajay sees his new company as a return to working in the high-tech environment while at the same time taking advantage of the marketing and sales skills he gained running a retail business.
“Instead of coordinating systems and solutions for large corporations and their clients, I’m creating solutions for homes, light commercial buildings and planned communities,” he said, comparing his new company to his previous careers at Oracle and Cisco Systems. “I’m enjoying the challenge of starting a new business. And I expect it to do very well as I work with designers and builders to help them appreciate these new technologies and how to best profit from them.”
The technology behind lighting and temperature control systems is very complex and can be expensive and difficult to maintain, but Abbajay’s approach is to make it simple and seamless for the average home or business owner.
“You can have all the advantages of the most state-of-the-art technology on the market, but we’ll make it as easy as using a TV remote,” he said. “There is a wide range of technologies in the marketplace, so we are able to provide solutions that work with virtually any budget”, Abbajay added.
Abbajay Automated Control Systems can offer a range of solutions for every need. “For example, we can work with a homeowner interested in integrating a sophisticated lighting system into the remodel of their home to make it more comfortable and efficient,” he said.
Another area that his company will focus on is working with developers of planned communities to
create comprehensive automated programs and solutions that the homeowners associations can offer as a “one-stop” resource for residents.
“Homeowners associations that can provide residents with a wide array of home management and monitoring options, such as security, temperature control and remotely checking for problems with appliances, is a value-added opportunity for them that doesn’t exist right now,” said Abbajay. “Many people, especially those that live part-time in resort communities like Black Butte Ranch or Sunriver, would love to have the option to connect into an integrated system managed by the homeowners association. It gives them added confidence that any problems can be anticipated and dealt with right away.”
