Design by Abbajay Automated Control Systems Named "Best Home Feature" in $1 Million to $1.6 Million Category at 2006 Tour of Homes
BEND, Ore. – (Aug. 14, 2006) – Abbajay Automated Control Systems designed and installed a comprehensive automated system in the Jess Alway-built home at River Mountain Estates that was ultimately named “Best Home Feature” in the $1 million to $1.6 million category on the 2006 Tour of Homes sponsored by the Central Oregon Builders Association.
The extensive system automated several features of the home including lighting throughout the house and security systems that were accessible via a color touch panel that combined several functions into easy commands such as “Welcome” and “Goodbye.” For example, the “Welcome” control unlocks the security systems and turns on lights throughout the house based on a family’s habits and patterns. “Goodbye” completely secures the house when they leave.
But the most popular feature installed by Abbajay’s company in the Tour of Homes house was the LG 42-inch LDC television with integrated Digital Video Recording built right in.
“Media systems are advanced to the point that you don’t need several boxes for DVD and video players connected to TVs with cables any more,” explained David Abbajay, president of Abbajay Automated Control Systems. “This is the type of expertise and counsel we bring to our client’s projects. We can recommend the latest technology and install it for them at a reasonable price. And we offer complete, integrated solutions instead of shopping for systems one-by-one.”
“This was a great experience,” he continued. “It was wonderful to showcase our products and expertise in a beautiful home. People touring through really got a sense of how much automation can add to the convenience and comfort of a home. And it can all be customized to their needs and budgets.”
For example, the home was also recognized for Best Landscaping in the same category and Abbajay believes that the outdoor sound system he installed, which was controlled by a remote, made the whole outdoor living experience of the home even more enjoyable.
“Automation is definitely the biggest trend in newly designed homes,” explained Abbajay. “It’s the best way to take advantage of technology and adapt it to systems in our homes that make sense. For example, our team can design and install a system that merges the security and lighting of a house according to different times of the day in terms of the sunlight available and the family schedule.
With the Cat 5 wiring that’s common in new homes today, it’s just a matter of thinking differently about how homes can be designed and systems installed to maximize convenience and comfort, according to Abbajay. And it’s all run from a central server that can be easily programmed and updated according to changing lifestyles and schedules.
“It’s also a great remodeling investment,” he added. “For as little as $3,000 someone can update a home with a package designed specifically to light and secure a vacation home, or a private space for an elderly parent who appreciates the control they have using a remote to turn lights on and off instead of having to move around the space.”
